A Pale View of Hills - Kazuo Ishiguro

$175.00

Beautiful First American Edition of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel A Pale View of the Hills.

The only defect is a previous owner’s inscription. It is, however, to a Marie-Louise from a Liz Tate. Pure speculation and sleuthing raises the slight possibility it could be a gift to the painter Marie-Louise von Motesiczky from someone associated with the Tate family of galleries, as a centenary exhibition of Von Motesiczky’s work was organised in 2006-07 at Tate Liverpool , and the great majority of Marie-Louise’s drawings and sketchbooks, the archive of her and her family’s papers, along with other documentary items connected to her life and work, have been presented to Tate where the Archive Gallery at Tate Britain has been named for her. This is purely speculation (I haven’t confirmed there even is a Liz Tate associated with the Tate Galleries) and hasn’t factored into the price.

Inscription aside, this is clean crisp copy of an important modern first.
